Acts OF AUthenticity
An act is both a deed and a form, something done and something shown. This series takes its name from both meanings. Each painting is an act of authenticity: a deliberate choice to show what images increasingly fail to show - unedited real bodies. And each painting is an act, a nude, in the oldest tradition of figurative art.
“Acts of authenticity” is about what we lose when perfection becomes the standard. About the bodies that get edited out, smoothed over, never shown. About the real consequences that has, on how we see ourselves, how we feel inside our own skin. It’s a response to a cultural moment in which social media and AI-generated imagery have set a new standard of physical perfection, one that never existed and never could.
Every painting is painted from a real model.
